Injuries: 0
Fire Size: 4,772 acres
Containment: 49%
Cause: Natural/Lightning
Start Date: Thursday, July 19, 2018
Location: 16 miles northwest of Kremmling, CO

Summary: Command of the Silver Creek Fire was transferred from the Rocky Mountain Incident Management Team Blue to a Type 3 Incident Management Team at 6:00 a.m. this morning. “We will continue the progress made by the two previous Incident Management Teams on this full suppression fire. Our highest priority remains the safety of the public and firefighters. We want to work with local residents that are affected by our operations and minimize the interruption we may cause,” said Incident Commander Robert Lehmann. Crews continue to patrol the fireline and take action on hot spots where safe to do so. Fire restoration work continues along the perimeter as well. Restoration includes the installation of water bars, removing hazard trees, and chipping excess debris to reduce fuels and minimize erosion. Heavy equipment crews are constructing indirect fireline along Forest Service Roads and immediately west of the Old Park community.

Weather: A front crossed the region early today, moving moisture away. Very strong westerly winds are expected behind the front, with gusts up to 45 mph possible.

Closures and Public Safety: The Latigo Ranch area, Old Park, and Gore Lakes areas continue to be under a pre-evacuation notice by the Grand County Sheriff. For the most current evacuation information, please visit or
